The Charities Bill
has today been published for the second time following its inclusion in
the Queen’s Speech.
The new Charities
Minister, Paul Goggins, said: “The Charities Bill builds on the
important work of the sector, reforming charity law with an emphasis on
public benefit and enhancing the regulatory role of the Charity Commission.
“The reintroduction
of the Bill underlines our commitment to working with charities and voluntary
organisations to change lives and to promote thriving, active and diverse
communities. Many voluntary organisations enjoy strong partnerships with
Government in achieving their aims, but the continued independence of
the sector is something to be maintained and strengthened.”
