The NSPCC and Shelter
go head to head in live pitches to HSBC in a showcase of marketing talent
at the Marketing for Good conference held by the Ingenious Group in London
today.
At the first event of its kind focussed on cause related marketing, Rachel
Groves, account director of corporate partnership at the NSPCC, will be
among those presenting her charity's case for "winning the business", with
the audience voting for a winner on electronic keypads.
The pitches will not lead to binding contracts (although Groves admits winning
could help the charity get a foot in the door) as the object of the exercise
is to analyse each organisation's ideas, presentation skills and strategic
overview. "The whole point is to showcase some of the marketing talent in
the charity sector," she said.
"The reality is that
people still don't see CRM as a powerful element of the marketing mix
and anything we can do to change that view the better."
Representatives, including
those from the Samaritans, the Variety Club and the MS Society will all
be presenting at the conference in front of a panel which includes Peter
Fisk, chief executive of the Chartered Institute of Marketing.
