Northern third sector to benefit from excellence advisory body 28/03/07

Charities in the north of England are set to benefit from a new body aimed at helping third sector organisations to improve their performance.

North of England Excellence, which brings together Excellence North West with partners across Yorkshire and the north east, will encourage the third sector to aspire to “world-class standards”.

Itself a non-profit organisation, North of England Excellence will offer seminars, training and support. It will help organisations to assess their operations from leadership and management to financial results. It will also act as an accreditation body for schemes including Investors in Excellence.

Chief executive David Teale, the former managing director of Manchester Airport Aviation Services, said: “Excellence North West has played a major part in helping businesses in the voluntary, public and private sectors in the north west to improve their performance and has become one of the most successful regional excellence bodies in the UK. By joining forces with other partners to create North of England Excellence, we can now bring those benefits to organisations throughout the whole of the north.”
