The charity is set to launch on 8 May and will be responsible
for improving the quality, quantity and diversity of youth volunteering
opportunities and raising awareness among young people of the value of
volunteering. The Russell Commission has said that it intends to attract
a million new volunteers.
Ian Russell, interim chair of the youth volunteering charity, commenting
on the contributions by business, said: “…Together with the
contribution from the seven founding partners [T-Mobile, ITV, KPMG, MTV,
Tesco, Sky and The Hunter Foundation], this £10 million injection
will spearhead some exciting and dynamic projects to encourage more young
people to become active and positively engaged in society.”
