The board will consist of ‘corporate ambassadors’ from the private sector, tasked with helping Cancer Research UK widen its network of corporate contacts to allow better engagement with business in a fundraising capacity. Jones has helped to raise funds for the charity for a number of years, including running in the 2005 Flora London Marathon.

Jones said: “As I move on from the CBI I shall be doing many different things but none will be more important than this.”
