Funded by the Millennium Commission, the Department for
Culture Media and Sport, the Big Lottery Fund and Arts Council England,
the trust will allocate funds to a programme of projects at a local, regional
and national level which aim to “leave a lasting positive legacy
of the Games for future generations”. The call for applications
was made in April this year, with 11 organisations and consortia responding.
The trust’s funders said a preferred candidate would
be announced as soon as possible, with the aim of establishing the trust
in the Autumn this year.
