New sponsorship guidelines to help charities maximise Gift Aid 01/06/04

The Giving Campaign has published a comprehensive sponsorship guide to help charities increase the numbers of donors participating in Gift Aid.

Currently, many charities are finding that although they include the Gift Aid option on their sponsorship forms, they are unable to claim due to insufficient information. The guidelines provide details on exactly what the forms should contain, as well as suggestions on how to ensure that all the relevant boxes are completed.

The guide is the result of a pilot study comparing the Gift Aid participation rate on sponsored events operated by three different charities, who each used four variations of sponsorship forms. The most successful forms can are available, alongside the guidance materials, on the Campaign website at www.givingcampaign.org.uk
