Jodi Berg, the Independent Complaints Reviewer to the Charity
Commission, has published her annual report, recommending
the Commission review its approach to disputes within charities
and its response to whistleblowers.
The report revealed that during the past year, the ICR
has received 41 complaint referrals and completed 15 reviews,
incorporating 60 allegations of maladministration. Only
10 allegations were upheld. In the main, complaints related
to how the Charity Commission exercised its regulatory authority.
Berg said: “In general, I find that the Commission
responded well to complaints by trying to see things from
a complainant’s viewpoint and acknowledging instances
of poor service. As a consequence, this year only a small
number of investigated cases were upheld.”
The full report can be found on the ICR’s website.
