Scottish charities
are to take part in a pilot monitoring exercise for the Office of the
Scottish Charity Regulator (OSCR).
The scheme involves
300 charities and aims to test out the process in place for completing
annual returns, which all Scottish charities will soon be required to
do. OSCR hopes that the pilot scheme will identify any problems with the
system and enable data to be collated and organised effectively.
Jane Ryder, chief
executive of OSCR said this is a great opportunity for the organistion
to meet its objectives of developing a regulatory framework that will
benefit the sector as a whole.
“I am extremely
pleased that after six months OSCR is in a position to test out the processes
and engage constructively with the charities we regulate,” she said.
“The charity sector in Scotland is very diverse, so we are keen
to listen to feedback from this exercise and ensure that we get the balance
of proportionality right.”
OSCR goes out to full
public consultation on the Monitoring Programme on 2 August, and a series
of regional events will be held in September.
