The Institute of Fundraising
has launched a new Draft Code of Practice on Volunteer Fundraising. The
code, which has been put out for consultation until September, aims to set
out best practice in managing volunteer activity and includes a section
on the specific issues that arise when celebrities engage in volunteer fundraising
activity.
Andrew Watt, head
of policy at the IoF, said: "Volunteer fundraising is probably the
most prevalent form of fundraising activity in the UK. It is important
that volunteer fundraising activities are conducted properly to protect
both the volunteer and the organisation. We welcome comments on this draft
Code from any interested party."
The code and details
of how to respond to the consultation are available on the institute's
website www.institute-of-fundraising.org.uk
