Two of the sector's
award organisations have launched the start of the nomination processes
for their volunteering awards.
The Queen’s
Award for Voluntary Service began its search with the call for the public
to put forward groups who work best to support their communities.
Initially created
to mark the Queen’s Golden Jubilee, the award is now in its third
year and so far has been presented to more than 300 organisations in recognition
for the vital roles they play in providing and supporting important local
services.
More information on
how to nominate is available from www.queensawardvoluntary.gov.uk
or by calling 0845 000 2002.
And in a separate
announcement, the Beacon Fellowship has also said that it is looking for
entries - in particular, those individuals who have “made a significant
contribution to charity, whether through resources, time or specialist
skills”.
There are six main
categories ranging from Creative Giving to Young Philanthropist, with
the overall winner receiving the Beacon Prize of £20,000 to give
to a charity of their choice.
