Scottish Social Networks has launched an online database of
social networks projects operating across Scotland, which
aims to increase awareness of the work of participating organisations
while creating a forum for sharing expertise.
The new database was launched by the Scottish Parliament’s
minister for communities and sport Stewart Maxwell from
the offices of homeless charity the Rock Trust.
Maxwell said: “…To prevent the nightmare of
repeat homelessness, it’s vital that people build
social links within their communities which contribute enormously
to their sense of self-worth and therefore their ability
to live settled, fulfilling lives. The Scottish Social Networks
online database will be an invaluable tool for all the organisations
across the country, such as the Rock Trust, which are working
extremely hard to help homeless people find that stability.”
