The National Endowment for Science, Technology and the
Arts (NESTA) has launched its ‘Big Green Challenge’,
putting up £1 million to encourage people to come
up with ideas for fighting climate change.
Applications are open until the end of February, when NESTA
and a panel of experts will determine the 100 best ideas,
which will then be reduced to 10. Finalists will then be
given a year to put their ideas into practice, with financial
support and advice from NESTA. The entry with the most imaginative,
and proven, approach will receive a majority of the £1
million fund.
NESTA’s chief executive Jonathan Kestenbaum said:
“By providing a financial incentive and expert support,
we hope to encourage communities to come together to find
new ways to tackle climate change.”
