The Act, which comes into full effect on 24 April, defines the Charities
Test which all charities must meet in order to be entered into the new
register of charities. The Office of the Scottish Charity Regulator (OSCR)
is keen to find out how this will impact on charities and has called upon
the sector to contribute to the consultation.
Jane Ryder, chief executive of OSCR, said: “We welcome feedback
on the new legislation and are keen to ensure that our guidance is easy
to understand, particularly as many charities are small and run by volunteers.
I would urge any charities or members of public who wish to make their
views known before the 27 January deadline.”
Written contributions can be sent to OSCR at Argyll House, Marketgait,
Dundee DD1 1QP or by email to info@oscr.org.uk. For more information visit,
