Two new Commissioners have
been appointed at the Charity Commission.
Starting this year was John
Williams, co-founder and former chairman of PR consultancy Fishburn Hedges.
A trustee to four charities, he brings with him experience in communications
and branding and has a special interest in corporate social responsibility.
The second appointment is Tess
Woodcraft, co-founder and director of The Centre for Strategy and Communication.
A former BBC journalist, she has worked as a strategic consultant and
chief executive at a national childcare charity, the Kid’s Club
Network. Tess will take up her new post on 1 May after completing a consultancy
role for the commission.
Also announced by the Home
Office was the extension of David Unwin’s appointment as legal commissioner.
He will remain in the role until January 2007.
Geraldine Peacock, chair of
the regulator, said: “The new commissioners will bring a wealth
of expertise to our strategic review as we embrace a modernising agenda.
Both John and Tess’s diverse experience in and around the charity
sector will be a great asset to the Commission.
“David Unwin’s
reappointment is vital for stability and continuity on the Board in these
times of change and I am delighted to have him with us for the next two
years.”
