Capacitybuilders has announced investment plans for its
national workforce and ICT projects, which will work alongside
the new national support services.
Capacitybuilders said that its programme of regional ‘ICT
champions’ would be provided through NAVCA, and would
receive investment of £1.1 million over three years.
It said that the work would focus on hands-on advice and
networking between ICT support providers, working closely
with ChangeUp consortia.
Workforce development will receive £550 thousand
over three years, to “ensure the continued development
of professional standards and training for sector support
providers”. NAVCA will also be carrying this out through
its SKILD programme.
Further cash - £112 thousand – will go to the
NCVO for work in developing appropriate skills and qualifications
strategies for the sector. This is pending decisions on
the establishment of a Third Sector Workforce Development
Council, which will likely take over these responsibilities.
Commenting on the new funding programme, Capacitybuilders’
chief executive Simon Hebditch said: “Our overall
aim is to bring about a real change in the effectiveness
and efficiency of the sector, constantly seeking to drive
up standards. These national priorities – working
alongside our new national support service programme –
will add significantly to these objectives.”
