Charities – particularly those with European interests – are being reminded to register their name for the new domain before 7 February, when applications will open to others with a right to the name (i.e. family name, trade names etc). After 7 April, registration is open to the general public.

Even for those organisations that have no interest in a European domain name, it is worth bearing in mind that others could register with that organisation’s name, with potentially negative consequences.
