| The
National Council for Voluntary Organisations is calling on
charities and voluntary groups to sign up to a scheme awarding
bursaries to small charities looking to raise money through
trading.
The scheme, Only Connect, is sponsored by Triodos Bank
and encourages organisations to explore opportunities for
trading goods as an independent, sustainable source of income.
It enables them to visit other organisations with a track
record in making money from trading.
Kat Smith of NCVO’s sustainable funding project,
said: “It is increasingly important for voluntary
and community sector organisations to explore ways of diversifying
their income. Self-financing, through selling goods and
services, can be a useful way to supplement grants and donations.”
The current period for applications closes on 8 September.
