A new online course has been
launched specifically for people wanting to forge a career in the voluntary
sector.
Part of a pilot project
by Working for a Charity, which is now part of NCVO’s Workforce
Development Team, the course will cover marketing, communications and
campaigning and will address issues such as fundraising, employment practices
and volunteers, finance and governance.
Elaine Smethurst from
Working for a Charity, says: “Our training courses offer information
and advice to career changers, returners to work and new graduates on
how to transfer their skills effectively into the sector and the challenges
and management issues they will face.
"An online course
is perfect for people who are not able to devote time to attending a daytime
course, or who don’t want to spend time travelling to central London."
She suggests that participants dedicate around three hours per week for
four weeks to the course.
The course starts
at the end of April 2005 and is conducted through Roehampton University’s
Virtual Learning Environment. To register, visit www.workingforacharity.org.uk
or call Elaine Smethurst on 020 7520 2493.
