The Charity Commission has launched a web-based list of newly
registered charities to allow umbrella, membership and support
organisations easier access to them.
The new list was created in response to a recommendation
by the City Parochial Foundation. Its chief executive Bharat
Mehta said: “As a charity which helps others grow
and develop, we wanted a facility to help us make contact
with newly registered charities more swiftly. The Commission’s
response to our suggestion is a useful tool for a whole
range of support and umbrella organisations out there –
helping new charities join up with those who can help them
on their journey as quickly as possible.”
The list can be found under the ‘about registered
charities’ section at
www.charity-commission.gov.uk
Meanwhile, the Regulator has also published a revised timetable
for the development of its advice and guidance on public
benefit.
The key dates it has outlined are:

guidance for all charities published
January-February 2008 - Start of three
month consultations on draft supplementary guidance on public
benefit for: charities for the prevention and relief of
poverty; charities for the advancement of education; charities

the public benefit provisions in the Charities Act 2006
