Winner of Women of the Future Awards announced 17/11/08
Melody Hossaini, a campaigner for youth rights, has been honored in the Women of the Future Awards in London.

Twenty three year old Melody , who was involved in establishing the UK Youth Parliament (UKYP) and is the first female and ethnic minority to be elected to chair the board of trustees, was joint winner of the BT Woman of the Future Voluntary Award.

The awards - founded two years ago to identify female role models under the age of 35 - celebrate rising stars in the business, public and creative world.

The UK Youth Parliament provides opportunities for 11-18-year-olds to campaign for social change.

Launched at the House of Commons in July 1999, UKYP held its first sitting in February 2001 in London. There are currently over 500 elected members and deputy Members.
