Stuart Etherington, NCVO CEO, and Angela Smith, the new Minister for the Third Sector, today co-chaired the second Recession Summit to help voluntary and community organisations and social enterprises through the global economic downturn.

At the summit, charity leaders launched Support in Uncertain Times, which sets out advice and support on a range of topics which will help address key challenges identified by charity leaders.

A section on umbrella bodies looks at how they can better support the sector through capacity building, collaboration, evidence building on the recession and continued co-operation with the government.

This paper will sit alongside the wide range of measures the Government has put in place to support people and organisations including Real Help for Communities: Volunteers, Charities and Social Enterprises.
