The Charity Commission has appointed Christopher Daws as
the independent member of its Audit Committee, following
an open competition for the role.
Daws has had a varied career in both finance and business
and was, most recently, the financial and deputy secretary
at the Church Commissioners.
He is a trustee of Action for Children and a member of
the Board for Actuarial Standards.
Sharmila Nebhrajani, chair of the Commission’s Audit
Committee, said: “I’m really pleased that Christopher
is joining the Committee. His skills will complement those
of the present Audit Committee members and he will bring
both a strategic and a technical perspective that will prove
particularly useful.”
Christopher Daws added: “The Commission has a vital
regulatory role, particularly in these times of increased
pressure on charities. I’m looking forward to having
the opportunity to contribute directly to its success in
my role as independent member of its audit committee."
The Audit Committee will next meet in October.
