READ International |
| READ
International registered as a charity in May 2006. READ
mobilises university students to collect disused, high-quality
Key Stage 3, GCSE textbooks and other disused educational
resources from UK secondary schools and redistribute them
to Tanzania. Tanzania’s curriculum is based on the
UK system so these books are perfect for their school
system. READ also sends student volunteers into UK secondary
schools to promote student volunteering, social enterprise,
recycling, global citizenship and sustainability. By June
2007 READ has confirmed a national network of 350 student
volunteers, they had shipped over 150,000 textbooks to
Tanzania and given over 50 school presentations. |
