Awarded to a financial team or a finance director whose actions have clearly aided a charity in its work or position. The team or director will also be judged on the clarity of internal communication of financial information to facilitate decision-making, and external communication in terms of reports and accounts

1. In 100 words or less, please provide a summary of your organisation and what it does.
Include in this when your organisation was founded, who it serves and how.



2. Please provide an outline of the role and profile of the team (or director) within the organisation.
This should include specifics of what the team or director's role entails, and how they are viewed by others in the organisation.






3. Please provide evidence of how the finance team or director's decisions have aided the charity in its work.
This should include quantifiable examples of how financial and reserves policies, investments and investment strategy and other financial decisions, as well as strategic input beyond the remit of finance, have resulted in a marked benefit to the organisation.




4. Please provide evidence of how the finance team or director has used their skills and qualities to the benefit of the trustees, employees and stakeholders.
This should include details of the ways in which they have fulfilled their role in an exceptionally effective manner. This can include clarity of communications in facilitating decision making; demonstration of training for staff and trustees; clarity of guidance on forward budgeting and project budgeting; and clear presentation of financial information and management accounts.





5. Please provide evidence of best professional practices and standards.
This should include quantitative examples of best practice in policy and compliance, including the management of financial risk and compliance with SORP. This can also include innovation in financial strategy which has had a marked effect on the organisation.




6. In 500 words or less, why do you think the finance team or director deserves to win this award?
This should include evidence of the finance team or director's outstanding contribution to the financial and management issues of the organisation. In this section evidence may be quantitative, qualitative, or a mixture of both.
