Royal Voluntary Service is one of the country's largest voluntary service organisations with 25,000 volunteers working in communities and hospitals across Britain. Established just before the outbreak of war in 1938, the organisation's purpose has always been to inspire the gift of voluntary service to meet the needs of the day.
Now in its 80th year, the charity is embarking on an ambitious new 5 year strategy which will focus on two clear needs of our day - supporting our NHS in hospitals and communities and meeting the needs of our ageing population. We believe passionately in the ideals of voluntary service and the positive impact it has on both those that are helped and those that volunteer. Our volunteers are steadfast, innovative and compassionate individuals. Whether they are supporting older people on a hospital ward, organising a local lunch club or running a hospital café, the difference they make is profound.
Over the next 5 years we wish to grow our charity's impact significantly and to do so we need to build a long-term sustainable fundraising income to align with the charity's delivery plans.
Royal Voluntary Service is seeking an experienced and inspirational Head of Fundraising to join our team. The successful candidate will offer wise counsel to our leadership team with opportunity to work in partnership with the CEO and the Executive Director of Finance.
The role requires a confident fundraising leader to take the helm with the drive to grow our existing income streams and develop new opportunities arising from our unique structure and reach. We are looking for a special individual who will thrive in our voluntary service environment, who can drive forward our fundraising strategy with creativity, confidence and resilience.
Leading a team of experienced managers, the Head of Fundraising will need particular expertise in Individual Giving, Community, Legacy and Corporate fundraising. As the most senior fundraising specialist in the charity, the Head of Fundraising will have oversight of all areas of fundraising, providing guidance and counsel to the team and working in line with our organisation's values. With natural confidence derived from breadth and depth of career experience and a proven track record, they will have the credibility to engage with our Board of Trustees.
The ideal candidate would have experience of fundraising with volunteers, or perhaps have experience gained in a membership-based organisation. Working closely with our governance team they will be the champion of best practise, up-to-speed on the latest fundraising regulations and governance requirements.
