ACEVO appoints new chair of trustees

ACEVO, the network for civil society leaders, has appointed Rosie Ferguson, CEO of single parents’ charity Gingerbread, as its new chair elect.

Ferguson will take over from current ACEVO chair Joe Irvin, CEO of Living Streets, at ACEVO’s AGM on 6 December when his term as a trustee ends.

She has been a trustee of four charities and chair of two, international volunteering charity UNA Exchange and The Glass-House Community Led Design, a national charity that supports collaborative work on the design of buildings, open spaces, homes and neighbourhoods.

Commenting on the appointment, ACEVO CEO, Vicky Browning said: “I’m really looking forward to working with Rosie and the rest of the trustee board to deliver ACEVO’s purpose. I’d also like to thank Joe Irvin, who steps down as both ACEVO chair and trustee in December after six years of service. Joe has been an absolute rock on the board, delivering strategic advice and insight with both rigour and humour.”

Ferguson added: “I believe strongly in ensuring that the UK has a thriving civil society and am utterly committed to championing and developing excellent leadership within civil society organisations.

“I’m looking forward to working with the ACEVO trustees and chief executive Vicky Browning and her team to deliver the new strategy and inspire and support civil society leaders to make the biggest possible difference.

“I’ve been chief executive of two membership organisations, which has given me insight into the importance of being responsive to the needs of a membership community. And as an ACEVO member myself, I believe I can help ensure it is relevant, engaging and at the forefront of what members need.”
