KIDS CEO joins CAF Venturesome Investment Committee

Kevin Williams, chief executive of KIDS the disabled children’s charity, has been appointed to the CAF Venturesome Investment Committee.

The Investment Committee is responsible for making decisions about which charities and social enterprises CAF Venturesome, the social investment arm of the Charities Aid Foundation, should offer loans to.

Since its launch in 2002 CAF Venturesome has offered over £22m to over 300 charities and social enterprises.

In 2007, KIDS borrowed a CAF Venturesome loan for the sum of £250,000 to help with cashflow problems while the then new Chief Executive Kevin Williams put in a place a strategy to turn around the charity’s financial situation.

Williams is the first member of the committee who is a former client of CAF Venturesome.

Paul Cannings, chair of the CAF Venturesome Investment Committee, said: “The committee is made up of a healthy mixture of people with strong financial and charity experience. It’s great to have Kevin on board because he not only brings impressive experience of the charity sector, but as a former CAF Venturesome client he also brings understanding of what it is like to take up a CAF Venturesome loan.”

Commenting on his appointment, Kevin Williams said; “KIDS owes its existence to the support of CAF Venturesome at a critical moment in the charity’s development.”

The CAF Venturesome Investment Committee members are:

Paul Cannings (Chair) – director of YFM Equity Partners.

Nadine Majaro – Since 2003 trustee in the voluntary sector, following 25 years with
Price Waterhouse Cooper, latterly as partner.

Victoria Hornby – Senior Executive with the Sainsbury Family Trust.

Susan Elizabeth – Since 2006 an independent consultant and facilitator, following 25 years in the not-for-profit sector.

Kevin Williams – CEO of KIDS.

Williams has worked in the voluntary sector since 1980, managing services for children and young people.
