NCVO announces proposed president and vice-chair

NCVO has announced it has proposed Baroness Pitkeathley of Caversham OBE as the organisation’s next president and Sally Young as its vice-chair.

Lady Jill Pitkeathley is the suggested president, subject to members' ratification, who has been working in or with the voluntary sector for over 40 years and has been chief executive officer, chair and trustee of a number of charities to date.

Sally Young, the chief executive of Newcastle County for Voluntary Service, is set to become NCVO vice-chair. For the past 30 years, Sally has been working with and for charities and will succeed Matt Hyde, chief executive of the Scout Association, who comes to the end of his second three-year term as trustee on 20 November.

Royal College of Psychiatrists appoints new development director

The Royal College of Psychiatrists has appointed Liz George as its new Development Director. She joins from The Royal British Legion Poppy Factory, where she has worked since 2011.

National poverty charity Turn2us announces new chair

Turn2us chair Bill Colvin is retiring after completing two full terms as a trustee, the last 4 years of which have been spent as the charity’s chair.

Mairéad Ní Cheóinín has been appointed to Seafarers UK as the charity’s new corporate fundraising manager, where her focus will be on engaging with the commercial maritime sector.
